Karl-Anthony Towns scored 37 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the New York Knicks to a 113-100 win over the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Monday night. Jalen Brunson added 27 points as New York extended its dominance over Brooklyn to 12 straight victories.
Towns shot 14-of-20 from the field and made all six of his free throws, while Mikal Bridges contributed 16 points and Jordan Clarkson added 12 off the bench. The Knicks shot 51% overall and limited the Nets to 38% from the floor, controlling the pace throughout the game.
Noah Clowney had a career-high 31 points for Brooklyn, with Michael Porter Jr. adding 16, but the Nets were unable to overcome New York’s balanced attack. Brooklyn remains 0-8 at home this season, struggling to match the Knicks’ efficiency on both ends of the court.
The third quarter proved decisive as Towns and Bridges combined for 23 points, helping New York outscore Brooklyn 38-27 on 63.6% shooting, including six made 3-pointers, to take an 89-75 lead into the final period. Terance Mann’s 3-point play early in the third had briefly tied the game at 51, but the Knicks quickly regained control.
New York played without Landry Shamet, sidelined with a right shoulder sprain suffered Saturday in Orlando, but Towns’ inside presence and Brunson’s playmaking provided stability. The Knicks improved to 10-6 overall while Brooklyn falls to 3-14.
New York heads to Charlotte on Wednesday, while the Nets will host Philadelphia on Friday in search of their first win at Barclays Center this season.
