Timberwolves most aggressive West deadline team

Of the top teams in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves are believed to be the most aggressive in exploring a major move ahead of the trade deadline.

Minnesota has spent much of the season looking for backcourt upgrades after Rob Dillingham failed to develop as quickly as hoped following his acquisition on draft night in 2024, and the team remains heavily linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Timberwolves have shown a willingness to pursue blockbuster deals in the past, having pushed hard for Kevin Durant at last year’s deadline and again in June before he was traded by the Suns to the Rockets.

“The most aggressive team in the West right now is the Minnesota Timberwolves,” Brian Windhorst said on Monday’s episode of Get Up. “They are in the game for Giannis. I don’t believe that their offers can outweigh the other offers and I’m not even sure that Giannis is getting traded before Thursday.

“If they don’t make what I would call a Hail Mary Giannis deal, I think they are aggressively looking to upgrade their backcourt.”

Windhorst added that he does not expect major deadline moves from the Thunder, Nuggets, or Lakers, while the Spurs and Rockets are also expected to stay out of significant trade activity.
