Tim Hardaway Jr. signed a one-year, minimum salary contract with the Denver Nuggets on July 10, joining a roster led by Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. The veteran wing emphasized the team’s style of play as a key factor in his decision.
“Everybody’s moving without the ball nonstop, basically sharing the wealth. All you gotta do is just make the right play and great things will happen,” Hardaway said, according to Joel Rush. He added that his role is to simplify offensive execution for his teammates.
Hardaway brings 13.7 points per game over a 13-season career, with experience on multiple playoff teams, including the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons. His three-point shooting and floor spacing will be critical for Denver as they seek to maintain championship-caliber offense.
The Nuggets’ current roster includes high-motor players like Aaron Gordon, Bruce Brown, and Cameron Johnson, providing depth on both ends of the floor. Hardaway joins a veteran core that blends shooting, playmaking, and size, complementing Jokic’s unique offensive skills.
David Adelman, the Nuggets’ new head coach, has emphasized ball movement and pace in training camp. Hardaway’s philosophy of making the right play aligns with Denver’s focus on off-ball motion and team sharing.
Hardaway’s addition also adds insurance at the shooting guard and small forward positions, allowing flexibility in rotations. With Jamal Murray and Jokic commanding primary offensive duties, Hardaway can operate as a spot-up shooter or secondary creator.
In recent seasons, Hardaway has averaged between 11.0 and 17.5 points per game while shooting above 35% from three in most campaigns.
