The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded guard Dillon Jones and a second-round pick to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Colby Jones, according to a report by Shams Charania.
Colby Jones will not remain in Oklahoma City. The Thunder are expected to waive the 23-year-old shortly after the deal is finalized.
Dillon Jones, the 6-foot-6 guard drafted 26th overall in 2024, appeared in 54 regular-season games during his rookie year with Oklahoma City. He averaged 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 10.2 minutes per game while shooting 38.3% from the field and 25.4% from three.
Jones also saw action in 10 postseason contests as the Thunder made a run to the 2025 NBA championship. He played a limited role in the playoffs, averaging just 4.6 minutes per game.
The 23-year-old is entering the second season of a four-year, $13.5 million rookie contract. He will now join a Wizards team that finished last in the Eastern Conference with an 18–64 record and is currently in the midst of a rebuild centered on youth.
Washington recently selected Texas guard Tre Johnson with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and added Florida senior Walter Clayton Jr. at No. 18 via the Grizzlies.
As for Colby Jones, the second-year guard played for both Sacramento and Washington during the 2024–25 campaign. In 39 total games, he averaged 4.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 13.2 minutes per game.
He was originally selected 34th overall by the Kings in the 2023 NBA Draft and is currently on a four-year, $8.8 million rookie-scale deal. His third season was guaranteed, while the fourth remains a team option.
