Despite a frustrating season that has seen his role reduced significantly, Heat guard Terry Rozier is choosing to remain a supportive and steady presence on the team.
He acknowledges the challenges he’s faced but emphasizes his commitment to staying ready and uplifting those around him, rather than becoming a source of negativity.
“I don’t carry bad energy with me,” Rozier said, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “I’m not a hater. How he’s playing, Davion, I think we’re all excited to see that. So I don’t carry bad energy with me and I love to see it.”
In other words, Rozier is refusing to let his disappointment overshadow the team’s greater goals.
Instead of letting frustration take over, he’s choosing to root for his teammates, including Davion Mitchell, who effectively took over his spot in the rotation after a midseason trade.
Rozier’s mindset reflects a deep understanding of the bigger picture: the importance of team chemistry and staying prepared for any opportunity that may come.
“Even if I’m not playing, we still got to get in the playoffs and give ourselves another chance to be able to enjoy that dance at the end,” he continued.
“I’m just happy to be a part of the process, even if I’m not playing. You never know, I could play in Game 2, 3 or 4. I know how that stuff works. Just making sure I’m staying ready. And definitely me being positive, me being a good teammate, I’m never going to change.”
Put simply, Rozier is embracing a selfless, team-first attitude, knowing that the postseason is a long road and his number could still be called.
