The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly not considering trading Ja Morant at this time, but league executives are keeping a close eye on the situation in case that changes.

According to Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst, rival front offices believe that if Memphis eventually decides to move Morant, they might also explore the possibility of trading Jaren Jackson Jr., signaling the start of a full rebuild.

Jackson signed a renegotiation-and-extension agreement with the Grizzlies this past offseason, locking him into a deal that runs through the 2029–30 season and is worth $240 million.

Given that level of commitment, moving him would represent a major shift in direction for the franchise.

However, if Memphis does trade Morant, it “could make sense to move Jackson and to kick off a full rebuild,” as the report notes.

Multiple teams are expected to express strong interest if the All-Star big man becomes available.

In that scenario, the Grizzlies could shift focus toward a younger core featuring Cedric Coward, Zach Edey, and Jaylen Wells.

Memphis already added several first-round picks in the recent Desmond Bane trade and would likely acquire even more assets in potential deals involving Morant and Jackson.
