
Team Flexachem welcomed UCD Marian to Killorglin on Saturday evening for a sixth round clash in the men’s Superleague.
The Killorglin outfit made a last minute sighing to strengthen their team which has been plagued with injuries since the start of the season.Into the squad comes 24 year old English guard Bradley Kaboza who played three seasons with the London Lions before moving to the Albanian top league last year.
The game tipped off at 7.15 with opening scores for the home side by Cam Timmons,Emilyian Grudov and Eche Okeke,while Marian’s Mihael Linde had a good opening quarter on 8 points.
By the end of the first, Team Flexachem had a slender lead at 23 to 22 ,new sighing Kaboza was brought on with less than 3 minutes left in the quarter and had an immediate effect,scoring two 2 pointers.
It was Kaboza again who got the opening 2 early in the second period,this was followed on through the quarter by Team Flexachem with 3 pointers from Liam Croke,Grudov and Okeke,while Marian had threes from Joshua Revnolds,Mihael Linde and Jack Kehoe,but by half time Team Flexachem had extended their lead to eight at 51 to 43.
Excellent defending by the home side in a low scoring third period saw the Launesiders win it 16 to 8 and saw the scoreboard read 67 to 51 heading into the final period.
Team Flexachem were in cruise control in the fourth and with three pointers from Patrick Lanipekun,Eche Okeke, Liam Croke and a pair from new boy Bradley Kaboza,they ran out easy winners on a final score of 90 to 68.
The decision to add Bradley Kaboza to the squad has paid immediate dividends and helped the killorglin side to return to winning ways.Top scorers on the night for the home side were Eche Okeke on 24,Kaboza on 19 and Grudov on 17 while for Marian,Mihael Linde got 16 with Tanner Graham and Joshua Revnolds on 11 each.
Team Flexachem are away to Sligo All Stars next Saturday in the first round of the National Cup,tip off for that one is at 7.30.
