
The Walsh’s Super Valu South Kerry Senior football final has been won by St.Mary’s.
They defeated Skellig Rangers 2-12 to 0-13 in Waterville.
It was a point apiece after 6 minutes. A Martin O’Sullivan two pointer put Rangers ahead. Mary’s hit back with 3 unanswered points; through Jack Daly, Anthony Cournane and Ben O’Donoghue. Rangers drew level in the 21st minute, making it 4 points all. It was 5 all in the final minute of the period. Ronan O’Shea pointed Rangers in front just before the short whistle. However, Aidan Walsh’s 2 pointer meant Mary’s were in front at the break by 7 points to 6.
5 minutes into the second period the gap remained at one; 8 points to 7. Darragh O’Sullivan’s 2 pointer from a free had Rangers in front in the 8th minute of the half. The lead was short lived as a goal from Tadhg O’Connor gave Mary’s a 2 point advantage. A point stretched that to 3 at 1-9 to 0-9. Mary’s were 2 to the good at 2-10 to 0-11 when they grabbed their second goal of the decider; Ben O’Donoghue gave them a 2-10 to 0-11 lead. A Darragh O’Sullivan 2 pointer brought Rangers within 3 with 5 minutes remaining. Mary’s had the next 2 points to move out of sight.
