The latest NBA MVP straw poll shows Shai Gilgeous-Alexander maintaining a commanding lead, earning 88 first-place votes.
Victor Wembanyama has moved into second, with Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Jaylen Brown completing the top five.
Wembanyama, who has been openly pursuing the award, appeared on every ballot and received 63 second-place votes along with eight first-place votes.
Jokic collected just three first-place votes, while Doncic did not receive any.
ESPN’s Tim Bontemps reported that 10 players received votes overall, though the race appears clearly defined at the top – only two fourth-place votes went to players outside the top five, reinforcing how established the leading group is.
Cade Cunningham has already been ruled ineligible after falling short of the 65-game requirement, and Anthony Edwards also became ineligible after voting concluded.
Doncic currently sits at 64 games played but is dealing with a hamstring injury that could affect his eligibility.
