John McGinn wrote his name in Scotland’s World Cup folklore this morning.

He scored their first goal at the tournament in 36 years, in a 1-0 win over Haiti in group C.

Despite being one of the pre-tournament favourites, Brazil could only manage a point in their opener against Morocco in the same group.

1-1 was how that finished.

It was the same score as Qatar scored late to stun Switzerland in group B.

Elsewhere this morning, Australia beat Turkey 2-0 in group E.
