The Toronto Raptors have re-signed Canadian guard A.J. Lawson to a two-way contract, according to a report from NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Lawson, 25, returns to the organization after a productive stint with Toronto last season, where he averaged 9.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 18.6 minutes across 26 games.

The Toronto native showcased consistent scoring ability and energy off the bench, shooting 42.1% from the field and 32.7% from three-point range. His transition from the G League’s Raptors 905 to the main roster last season highlighted his progress as a reliable rotation player.

Before joining Toronto, Lawson spent two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, appearing in 56 regular-season games between 2022 and 2024. He also saw brief postseason action in 2024, contributing in 10 playoff games during the Mavericks’ Western Conference run.

Lawson’s journey to the NBA began after going undrafted in 2021. He spent time with the College Park Skyhawks, Guelph Nighthawks, and Texas Legends before earning a two-way opportunity with the Minnesota Timberwolves and later the Mavericks. His persistence across multiple leagues and roles has turned him into one of Canada’s most versatile young guards.

In the G League, Lawson has been a consistent scoring threat. With Raptors 905 this season, he has averaged 19.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 43.3% from the floor and 37.9% from beyond the arc.

The two-way structure allows Lawson to split time between the NBA and Raptors 905, giving Toronto flexibility with roster management while continuing his development.
