Julius Randle scored 31 points, including 20 in the first half, and Rudy Gobert added 14 points with 19 rebounds to help the Minnesota Timberwolves hold off the Indiana Pacers 114-110 on Sunday at Target Center.
Star guard Anthony Edwards exited early with hamstring tightness, but Donte DiVincenzo contributed 17 points and Naz Reid added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to support Minnesota’s backcourt.
The Pacers stayed close behind Pascal Siakam’s 33 points and Aaron Nesmith’s 18, narrowing the deficit to 110-108 with 42 seconds left on Siakam’s late three-pointer. Jaden McDaniels responded with a finger-roll to restore a four-point lead with 20 seconds remaining.
Indiana’s rotation was limited, with Tyrese Haliburton out for the season and Bennedict Mathurin sidelined with a sprained toe. Andrew Nembhard missed his second straight game with a shoulder strain, forcing a starting lineup featuring Jay Huff, Isaiah Jackson, and Ben Sheppard.
Minnesota outscored Indiana 28-17 in the third quarter, drawing 11 fouls while committing only three in the period. The Timberwolves overcame the early loss of Edwards and maintained control through balanced scoring and interior dominance.
Despite the close finish, the Wolves’ bench contributions from Reid, DiVincenzo, and McDaniels were critical in keeping the Pacers at bay. Minnesota improved to 2-1, while Indiana fell to 0-3 after starting the season with multiple injuries and a double-overtime loss to Oklahoma City.
The Timberwolves host the Denver Nuggets on Monday, and the Pacers travel to face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
