The Detroit Pistons have exercised their 2026–27 rookie-scale team options for Ausar Thompson, Ron Holland, and Marcus Sasser, per RealGM’s transaction log.
Though the moves were made last week, they weren’t formally announced before the October 31 deadline.
Thompson, the fifth overall pick in 2023, continues to impress early this season.
In Sunday’s win over Boston, he delivered 21 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals, earning a +15 plus/minus rating. He’s averaging 14.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists through four games.
Holland, selected fifth overall in 2024, has boosted his scoring to 12.0 points per game while adding 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 21 minutes per contest.
Sasser, the 25th pick in 2023, averaged 6.6 points and 2.3 assists last season but has yet to play this year due to a hip injury.
All three now have guaranteed deals for the 2026–27 season, with Thompson and Sasser eligible for rookie extensions in 2026 and the Pistons facing a decision on Holland’s 2027–28 option next year.
