Pistons overcome suspensions, outlast Raptors 113-95

The Detroit Pistons defeated the Toronto Raptors 113-95, winning for the sixth time in seven games despite suspensions on Wednesday night.

Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 28 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists and Paul Reed had 16 of his 22 in the first quarter. 

Cunningham matched a season-high by making six of 11 attempts from three-point range, which is a career-high, set last season.

Duncan Robinson scored 13, and Tobias Harris added 12 points and 11 rebounds to help them improve to 18-7 on the road.

Detroit played without centers Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren, who started serving the suspensions handed down earlier in the day for their roles in a fight on Monday.

On the other hand, Raptors’ Immanuel Quickley dropped 18 points, and Scottie Barnes added 17. RJ Barrett with 16 and Brandon Ingram with  13.

The Pistons outscored Toronto 50-34 on points in the paint and also outrebounded with 46-35.

Meanwhile, Toronto center Jakob Poeltl returned after missing 24 games due to sore lower back, and now dropped nine points and six rebounds in 20 minutes.

Both teams will play road games on Thursday after the break: the Pistons at New York, while Toronto at Chicago.
