Paul Pierce has been officially charged with two misdemeanors following his DUI arrest earlier this month in Los Angeles, TMZ Sports reports.

Court records show the NBA Hall of Famer faces one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level of .08% or higher.

The charges come two weeks after his October 7 arrest, when California Highway Patrol officers allegedly found him asleep at the wheel of his Range Rover during a traffic jam on an L.A. freeway.

Officers said Pierce showed signs of intoxication and submitted to a blood test.

Two days later, Pierce denied drinking and driving, saying on Threads that exhaustion was the real reason behind the incident.

“Imagine being stuck in stand still traffic for 45 mins and falling asleep 🤦🏾‍♂️,” he wrote. “I’m old, I’m tired, and I fell asleep 🤷🏾‍♂️.”

Pierce is expected to appear in court next month for arraignment.
