Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley was arrested in Texas last Friday after being accused of assaulting his sister, according to TMZ Sports. Court documents state Beverley allegedly choked his sister for up to 30 seconds and punched her in the left eye at a Fort Bend County residence.
The incident reportedly occurred after Beverley’s sister returned home late on November 14 from seeing her boyfriend, Aiden Hilderbrand. The affidavit states that Beverley allegedly grabbed her by the neck, lifted her off the ground, and slammed her against the walls of an open room before punching her once in the eye.
Officials noted visible injuries, including markings on the sister’s neck and petechiae in the whites of her eyes. Beverley allegedly made a threatening comment to his sister during the encounter. Hilderbrand reportedly called authorities, prompting Beverley’s arrest.
Beverley was booked at the Fort Bend County Jail for felony assault, specifically classified as Assault on a Family Member/Household Member Impeding Breath or Circulation, a third-degree felony. His bail was set at $40,000, which he posted for release.
On social media, Beverley addressed the situation, writing: “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well Luv.” No further comments from his legal team have been reported.
This arrest marks a serious legal issue for Beverley, whose NBA reputation was built on his on-court toughness and physical style of play. Authorities continue to investigate the case, and further legal proceedings are expected.
