Partizan Belgrade officially announced the signing of veteran guard Nick Calathes from AS Monaco on Wednesday. The move strengthens Partizan’s backcourt as the team looks to improve its 3-3 start in the 2025-26 EuroLeague season.
Calathes, 36, brings extensive EuroLeague experience, having played for Panathinaikos, FC Barcelona, and Fenerbahce. Over 15 EuroLeague seasons, he has averaged 8.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game.
The Serbian side was also in discussions with free agent Cameron Payne but ultimately opted for Calathes, who will provide veteran leadership and playmaking. Calathes’ arrival strengthens Partizan’s backcourt alongside guards Carlik Jones and Shake Milton, who are both currently injured.
The signing comes as Partizan looks to improve its standing in the EuroLeague, sitting 11th with a 50% win rate after six games.
In his most recent season with AS Monaco, Calathes appeared in six games, contributing 8.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest. His ability to orchestrate the offense and control tempo will be crucial for Partizan as they aim to climb the EuroLeague table.
Calathes, known for his passing and basketball IQ, is expected to integrate quickly into head coach Zeljko Obradovic’s system.
