In their search for frontcourt help before the trade deadline, the Indiana Pacers explored multiple options beyond Ivica Zubac, via Jake Fischer.
League sources indicate Indiana also inquired about Jarrett Allen and Onyeka Okongwu before ultimately finalizing a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers for Zubac.
The Pacers’ move is part of a broader plan to position themselves as contenders again next season, when Tyrese Haliburton is expected to return from an Achilles injury.
Allen remains under contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers through the 2029 offseason after signing a three-year, $90 million extension.
Okongwu, meanwhile, is just 24 years old and is in the midst of a four-year deal averaging $15.5 million annually with the Atlanta Hawks.
Zubac carries an average salary of $19.6 million per year, a figure that makes him one of the more cost-effective starting centers in the league.
