Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker recently looked back on his mindset when he got traded to the Utah Jazz in 2022 (first traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to Portland Trail Blazers and then dealt again to the Jazz a day later).
(via atlhawksfans):
“I think for me it was just work. That trade to Utah really made me a professional and set the foundation to my routine that I have now and it really helped me each year grow in becoming a pro in all ways possible with discipline in my work, finding my identity through my work, trusting my work, and so forth. All the clichés that they talk about kinda started there, and I definitely remember for me my mindset was, ‘I could potentially be out the NBA, so let me just make the most of the breakfast club, let me make the most out of the high-level facilities and snacks on the plane, everything possible cuz you hear stories of guys in the EuroLeague and going to other teams and it’s not always cut out to be.’ There’s a lot of sacrifices that you have to make and I just really appreciated everything. And from the gratitude of that, it kinda turned into more.”
