The Brooklyn Nets have waived forwards Tyrese Martin and Hunter Tyson, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported on Thursday, February 5. Cam Thomas was also released as part of the roster adjustments.

Martin, 26, appeared in 37 games this season, averaging 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 18.8 minutes per contest. His three-point shooting stood at 33.6%, providing perimeter scoring in limited opportunities.

Tyson, a forward with a smaller role, had struggled for consistent minutes behind Brooklyn’s rotation of Michael Porter Jr., Nic Claxton, and Noah Clowney. His departure opens roster space for younger players or potential midseason acquisitions.

Thomas, waived alongside Martin and Tyson, contributed 15.6 points in 24 games but had inconsistent playing time. The Nets are currently 14th in the Eastern Conference with a 13-37 record.

Brooklyn has faced challenges balancing minutes between veterans and developing talent. Players like Day’Ron Sharpe, Ziaire Williams, and Egor Demin have been key rotation pieces, and the front office appears focused on maximizing efficiency and development moving forward.
