The NBA has opened an investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks regarding their handling of Giannis Antetokounmpo under the player participation policy, along with potentially conflicting statements about his health, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The league has already spoken with Antetokounmpo, team officials, and medical staff.

At the center of the issue is a disagreement between the player and the organization.

Antetokounmpo has reportedly told both the Bucks and the league that he is ready to play, while the team has maintained he is not medically cleared and questions whether he is truly prepared to return.

The player addressed the situation publicly.

“I’m available to play, but I’m not in the game,” he said. “I’m available to play today. Right now. I’m available.”

He also expressed frustration with the team’s stance.

“For somebody to come and tell me to not play or not to compete, it’s like a slap in my face,” Antetokounmpo said. “So, I don’t know where the relationship goes from there.”
