The NBA issued a statement acknowledging a scoring error that occurred during Thursday night’s matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards.

According to the league’s press release, the mistake happened with 8:15 remaining in the second quarter, when Wizards guard Tre Johnson made both of his free throws – but the first attempt was mistakenly recorded as a miss in the official box score.

After reviewing the game data, the league corrected the error, updating both the final score and individual statistics. The corrected final score now stands at 148–115 in favor of the Cavaliers.

Fortunately, the scoring discrepancy did not affect the outcome of the contest, as Cleveland won decisively in what was already a one-sided game.

The NBA emphasized that such errors, while rare, are reviewed and corrected to ensure the accuracy of official records.
