The Dallas Mavericks ended their four-game losing streak Saturday night, defeating the Washington Wizards 111–105 at Capital One Arena for their first road victory of the season.
Naji Marshall led Dallas with a season-high 30 points off the bench, sparking a comeback that helped the Mavericks improve to 3–7. P.J. Washington Jr. added 14 points, including eight in the final five minutes to seal the win.
Dallas played without Anthony Davis (strained left calf) and Klay Thompson (illness), yet still found enough offense to overcome a Wizards team that handed them a loss earlier in the season.
The Mavericks built an early 28–16 lead with a 19–0 run in the first quarter, holding Washington scoreless for more than five minutes. However, the Wizards gradually closed the gap, taking their first lead since the opening minutes on Alex Sarr’s follow shot that made it 72–71 late in the third quarter.
Cam Whitmore scored 19 points for Washington, while CJ McCollum led the team with 25, though he managed only two points after halftime. Washington has now lost eight straight and remains winless at home (0–5).
Dallas regained control in the final minutes. Washington Jr. sank two free throws to put the Mavericks up 102–101 with 4:36 remaining, then added two field goals and another pair of free throws to keep the Wizards at bay.
Cooper Flagg contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, while D’Angelo Russell finished with 14 points and six assists. Max Christie added 12 points, and Daniel Gafford scored eight against his former team.
The Mavericks shot 45 percent from the field and held the Wizards to 41 percent. Dallas also dominated the glass, outrebounding Washington 51–44, and forced 18 turnovers while limiting their own to 13.
Despite their struggles early in the season, the Mavericks showed improved execution down the stretch — something they’ve lacked during their recent skid. Marshall’s scoring burst off the bench provided the spark they needed to avoid a fifth straight loss.
The Wizards fell to 1–9, with their only win coming over Dallas back on October 24. Their next opportunity to snap the skid comes Monday in Detroit.
The Mavericks return home to face the Milwaukee Bucks the same night, hoping to build momentum after earning their first road win of the 2025–26 season.
