Cork hurling manager Pat Ryan says it’s ‘huge’ for the county to be crowned Munster Hurling champions.
The Rebels held their nerve to win 3-2 on penalties against Limerick last night to get their hands on the Mick Mackey Cup for the first time in seven years.
It had finished level at the end of extra-time at the Gaelic Grounds, at Cork 1-30 Limerick 2-27.
Limerick, who were bidding for a seventh successive provincial title, had hammered the League champions by 16-points in the round-robin stage.
Ryan says that performance was ’embarrassing’ and he’s praised his players for upping their work-rate in the final.

A place in next season’s Leinster Senior Hurling Championship is the reward for the winners of the derby between Laois and Kildare in the Joe McDonagh Cup final.
Kildare are hoping to seal back-to-back promotions, having won the Christy Ring final last year.
Laois lost out to Offaly in the McDonagh Cup final last summer, and they’ll be without Cha Dwyer, who departed the panel after the round-robin stage.
