
Tyrese Maxey delivered another high-level performance at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Tuesday night, scoring 35 points in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 121-102 win over the Washington Wizards.
The victory moved Philadelphia to 11-9, while Washington fell to 3-17 and continued its struggles away from home at 1-11 on the road.
Maxey followed his 44-point outing with another efficient night, finishing 13-for-26 from the field and reaching the 20-point mark for the 20th straight game. He added six assists and four steals in 29 minutes.
Washington briefly threatened early in the third quarter, trimming a 66-54 halftime deficit to 66-61 after scoring the period’s first seven points. Philadelphia responded with an 11-2 run, rebuilding control at 77-63.
Maxey took over the quarter with 20 points as Washington shot 7-for-22 and managed only 23 in the frame. The Sixers hit the 100-point mark with 32.1 seconds left in the third on Maxey’s free throw before opening the fourth on a 14-2 burst that extended the lead to 115-79.
Andre Drummond supplied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, helping Philadelphia finish with a 51-53 rebounding edge including 13 on the offensive end. Jared McCain added 14 points and knocked down two threes.
Jabari Walker contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, and Paul George scored 11 while connecting on three shots from beyond the arc. Philadelphia went 17-for-40 from long range, maintaining consistent spacing around Maxey’s drives.
Washington had seven players reach double figures, led by Tristan Vukcevic with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting. Marvin Bagley III, Justin Champagnie and Will Riley each had 13, with Champagnie adding seven rebounds.
The Wizards shot 40% overall and 25% from three. Their starters combined to go 12-for-45 from the field.
Kyshawn George had 11 points and five assists but struggled from the perimeter at 2-for-5 from deep. CJ McCollum added 10 points in 24 minutes, while Bilal Coulibaly finished with two.
Philadelphia built early momentum with a 34-31 first quarter and extended its advantage by halftime behind Maxey’s 15 points and McCain’s 11. The Sixers went 9-for-21 from three before the break and held the Wizards to 38% shooting.
Philadelphia played without Quentin Grimes, who missed his first game of the season. The third-leading scorer on the roster has averaged 17 points per game.
Washington returns home to host the Boston Celtics on Thursday. The Sixers remain in Philadelphia to face the Golden State Warriors on the same night.
