The Dallas Mavericks have waived Dalano Banton, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and Dennis Smith Jr., the team announced.

All three were on non-guaranteed training camp deals. Banton’s contract included Exhibit 9 and Exhibit 10 language, making him eligible for an $85,300 bonus if he spends at least 60 days with the Texas Legends in the G League.

Robinson-Earl and Smith were signed to Exhibit 9 deals, offering the Mavs injury protection during camp.

Banton, the 46th pick in 2021, appeared in 216 NBA games with Toronto, Boston, and Portland and averaged 8.3 points in a career-high 67 games last season.

Robinson-Earl, drafted 32nd in 2021, played 197 games for the Thunder and Pelicans. He appeared in all four preseason games for Dallas, averaging 7.3 points in limited minutes.

Smith Jr., a former No. 9 pick by Dallas in 2017 and part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade, has rebuilt his reputation as a strong defender despite past scoring inefficiencies. Jason Kidd publicly praised him during camp.

These cuts indicate Dallas plans to keep Dante Exum and Brandon Williams. Exum’s contract is fully guaranteed but he’s dealing with a knee issue.

Williams, partially guaranteed for $200K, impressed the organization after being promoted from a two-way deal last season.

Dallas now has 18 players under contract.
