Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving is not on the trade block, sources confirmed during a recent discussion on The Hoop Collective podcast.

NBA insider Tim MacMahon explained, via HoopsHype, “Trading Kyrie is not something that’s on the Mavericks’ priority list, or it’s just straight up not something that they are interested in doing right now.”

Irving re-signed with Dallas this past summer, opting out of his previous contract to secure a three-year deal, covering the 2025-26 season and the following two years. MacMahon emphasized that the Mavericks view him as a long-term asset: “What I would tell you about Kyrie is the Mavericks do not want to trade him.”

The 33-year-old All-Star has been sidelined while rehabbing from the ACL tear he suffered in March, leaving the Mavericks 5–14 to start the season without his on-court presence. League sources have confirmed teams have inquired about Irving, but Dallas has consistently communicated that he is central to their roster and leadership plans.

While Irving remains untouchable in trade talks, Anthony Davis has drawn league-wide attention as a potential move. MacMahon noted a contrast in approach: “Trading AD is a real possibility—and I would even say likelihood—this season,” highlighting Dallas’ openness to exploring upgrades around rookie cornerstone Cooper Flagg.

Irving’s impact extends beyond scoring, as the Mavericks see him as a stabilizing presence for Flagg and other young players. During his recovery, Dallas has relied on D’Angelo Russell, Klay Thompson, and Max Christie to manage the offense, but MacMahon stressed the value Irving brings to the development of the team’s rising core.

With Irving entrenched in the Mavericks’ plans, attention now shifts to evaluating Davis’ availability while preparing for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
