Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Spurs attempting to HIJACK Mbeumo move, Osimhen blow, Sporting defender on the cards

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to undergo huge change during the summer transfer window.

Weeks after beating Utd in the Europa League final, Spurs are looking to deal another blow to Utd, as they attempt to HIJACK their move for Bryan Mbeumo.

Elsewhere, Utd have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen, as the Nigerian striker is ‘unsure’ on a move to Utd, ahead of a potential switch to Al-Hilal.

In other news, Amorim could go shopping at his old club – and not for Viktor Gyokeres – as the Red Devils are tipped to sign Ousmane Diomande.

  • Gomes set to team up with Greenwood

Two former Manchester United stars are poised to link up for Champions League football in France next season.

Midfielder Angel Gomes is tipped to swap Lille for Marseille, despite reported interest from Tottenham and West Ham.

And that means he’ll be reunited with fellow Englishman Mason Greenwood.

The striker has been in demand himself following his brilliant first season in Ligue 1.

Barcelona are amongst the clubs linked with the 23-year-old in recent weeks.

But Greenwood has insisted he is keen to stay at Marseille.

It comes as RMC Sport say Gomes will sign a three-year deal with the French giants.

  • ‘Cunha & Mbeumo just what Utd need’

An Old Trafford legend claims Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are perfect for Manchester United’s shake-up.

Brazil attacker Cunha has arrived from Wolves, while United are reportedly battling Tottenham for Brentford striker Mbeumo.

Former England and Red Devils defender Gary Pallister believes the duo’s top-flight pedigree is ideal – after Prem newcomers like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled.

Palister told compare.bet: “Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are both fantastic players.

“Manchester United haven’t had that threat up front with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee having their struggles.

“Mbeumo and Cunha have already done it in the Premier League and they know exactly what it’s all about.

“The size of the club might need acclimatising to, but they’re ready made for the Premier League.

They’re well aware of everything that’s going to be expected of them… and it’s probably just what United need right now to give them a threat.”

  • Bees ‘want £70m for Bryan’

Brentford would hold out for £70million for Bryan Mbeumo – as Tottenham and Manchester United continue to circle for the striker.

Spurs’ reported pursuit of Bees’ manager Thomas Frank has wobbled United’s position as favourites to land the Cameroonian.

Brentford still hope to keep hold of the 25-year-old.

And it’s thought United have already made two offers, including £50m plus £10m add-ons.

But the Bees ideally want at least another £10m.

  • Rashford dilemma

Marcus Rashford pockets £350,000 per week and his wage demands are set to prove a stumbling block again as United look to get rid of him.

AC Milan were keen to do a deal in January, but they could only cover half his salary packet, opening the door for Aston Villa.

Barcelona is his dream destination this summer. But the Catalan giants face their own financial troubles, jeopardising the move.

Rashford has three years left on his contract and it is worth £50m.

Coming to a termination agreement is therefore not an option, unlike for Jadon Sancho, report ESPN.

  • Sancho update

Jadon Sancho’s unwillingness to take a substaintial pay cut on his £300,000-a-week deal saw his permanent switch to Chelsea fall through, according to reports.

ESPN claim there is “tentative interest” from West Ham, but they would have to smash their wage structure to do a deal.

It leaves Man Utd with a major problem as the winger is out of contract in a year’s time.

The club could be forced into loaning him out while paying a portion of his wages again or look to mutually rip up his contract.

His hefty salary demands are no problem for Saudi clubs and there is interest from the Middle East.

  • Van Gaal slams United

Former boss Louis van Gaal has taken a brutal swipe at Manchester United.

The Dutchman did not hold back, saying: “It is still a commercial club.

“It is not a football club. I have said that before – and that’s always difficult.”

He also criticised the structure behind-the-scenes and said the manager should sign players, not chiefs.

  • Martinez on the mend

Lisandro Martinez is recovering well since his surgery following a cruciate ligament sustained in February.

Sky Sports claim that latest tests show no sign of a torn meniscus and he is hoping to be back as early as possible next season.

Though Man Utd will not rush him back and will wait until he is in “peak” condition.

His individual programme sees him work on fitness over the summer before a return to the grass in pre-season.

Ruben Amorim views Martinez as a key man in his rebuild and the defender is said to be a leader in the dressing room.

  • Oyedele cash boost

Man Utd are set to profit of Maxi Oyedele leaving Legia Warsaw this summer.

The 20-year-old midfielder departed Old Trafford for the Polish giants last summer.

But just 12 months later, he is set to be on the move again for around £5m to a club yet to be revealed.

Man Utd will be sent 40 per cent of the transfer fee.

  • Obi scores

Man Utd youngster Chido Obi was among the goals for Denmark’s Under-20s yesterday.

The 17-year-old fired in from distance during a 2-0 win over Congo.

  • Onana spotted

Man Utd star Andre Onana has been spotted mixing with locals in his home country of Cameroon.

A video has emerged on social media that seemingly shows the goalkeeper playing outfield in a football match.

He has been praised by fans for showing his humble side and staying in touch with his roots.

  • Danish press slam Hojlund

Danish media outlets have criticised Rasmus Hojlund’s display in their 2-1 friendly win over Northern Ireland last night.

The striker featured for 65 minutes, failing to register a shot and touching the ball just 13 times.

In a live blog of the match, outlet Tipsbladet wrote: “To be a little harsh, Mathias Kvistgaarden has already had a greater impact in 30 seconds than Rasmus Hojlund had in 65 minutes.”

Sport TV2 and a fan vote on site DR both gave him a shocking rating of 2/10.

Kvistgaarden has been linked with a move to West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt from Brondby this summer.

  • Hojlund gives update

Rasmus Hojlund has broke his silence on rumours linking him with a Manchester United exit.

The striker, who managed just four league goals last season, is supposedly on the radar of Inter Milan.

But speaking on international duty with Denmark, Hojlund said: “I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United.

“I’m looking forward to a little summer break, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project.

“I know I can’t get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are.”

  • Looking ahead

Utd may have only just wrapped up the 2024-25 season.

But it is not that long to go until pre-season for the next campaign.

And plenty of fixtures have been confirmed so far…

  • Pull the Lever

Antony could be saved from his Manchester United hell by the man who brought him to Old Trafford in the first place.

According to reports, new Bayer Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag is considering signing the Brazilian for Leverkusen this summer.

Ten Hag was in charge at United when Antony arrived for £86m in 2022 but the tricky winger’s time in Manchester has been nothing short of a disaster, with Antony even admitting he went days without eating as it got so bad.

Antony was handed a loan lifeline by Real Betis for the second half of this season, excelling in Spain where he registered 14 goal contributions in 26 games as Betis secured a Europa League place next season.

However, despite glowing reviews and an internal ambition to re-sign the 25-year-old, Betis are thought to be unable to afford Antony on a permanent deal.

United are understood to prefer a permanent sale for Antony if an exit is sanctioned.

According to Sky Sports, Bayer Leverkusen could offer a viable option for Antony to finally call a permenant end to his time at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Bundesliga club are thought to have shortlisted Antony as one of a number of forwards they are keen on should Florian Wirtz leave for Liverpool this summer.

  • Really not Keane

Ex-Red Devils captain Roy Keane said England’s players looked “bored” in the 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Andorra.

The Three Lions were booed off at half-time before Harry Kane’s goal sealed a third win from three for Thomas Tuchel.

But on ITV, pundit Keane accused them of playing “walking football”.

He blasted: “I don’t like the message from your senior players is that the job was done, we’ll take it, whatever.

“You should be setting your standards higher than that. You should be saying they should have scored three or four more.

“We defend the players, say it’s the end of the season and talk about the hot conditions, and Kane looked shattered.

“I worry when I see players getting bored. I felt some of the players got bored in the last half an hour and I don’t like to see that.

“It’s when the goal went in, it was job done. It’s Andorra – go and get some more goals!”

  • Garna go?

Alejandro Garnacho may get a Saudi escape route — in a TRIPLE boost for Manchester United, SunSport can exclusively reveal.

The winger, 20, has been told he can find another club and Al- Nassr hope a chance to join his hero Cristiano Ronaldo tempts him.

There is also Saudi interest in United winger Jadon Sancho, 25, and Inter Milan want Red Devils striker Rasmus Hojlund, 22, on loan ahead of a £38million full-time switch.

United rejected a £40m January bid from Napoli for Garnacho but may get twice that from the Saudis.

Garnacho knows he is finished at Old Trafford after boss Ruben Amorim told him as much in the fall-out from last month’s Europa League final loss.

After the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha, Amorim knows the rest of his summer budget will largely be governed by departures.

But United look set to miss out on Napoli’s prolific striker Victor Osimhen, 26, after he reportedly agreed a deal with Al Hilal.

  • Let’s be Frank

Well, we said earlier Jamie O’Hara warned United about this…

And now SunSport can exclusively reveal that Tottenham do want Bryan Mbeumo to join with Thomas Frank — in a £70million double raid on Brentford.

Spurs have made Bees boss Frank their first choice to replace axed Ange Postecoglou and want to tie up a swoop quickly.

And the Europa League winners are trying to hijack Manchester United’s move for attacker Mbeumo — with hopes that landing Frank could help sway a deal.

Frank, 51, is open to the move across London and a £10m compensation package to land the Dane and his staff will not be a problem.

Spurs technical director Johan Lange, who worked with Frank at Danish club Lyngby, will play a key role in negotiations.

Then Tottenham can join the Mbeumo chase seriously and hope that being able to offer Champions League action will give them another edge.

United are edging towards a £60m deal and Spurs have cash to match that.

  • Red alert

A reminder of our SunSport exclusive regarding Viktor Gyokeres.

United are ready to win the race for the Sporting striker.

The Red Devils recently revealed total operating expenses have dropped by £41.6million to £162.1m in the latest quarterly club accounts after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s brutal cost cutting.

That is despite the cash spent on the Glazers’ debt spiralling to a staggering £1.2BILLION.

United’s gradual U-turn in club finances means they are ready to pip Arsenal to land Sporting Lisbon striker Gyokeres.

The Gunners are keen on the former Coventry hitman, 27, but are also chasing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

Sweden striker Gyokeres, who scored 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season, has an £85m release clause.

But it is understood that the Portuguese side would accept a fee closer to £60m this summer.

United boss Ruben Amorim is now ready to raid his former club after the boost in their accounts.

  • ZINE ENOUGH

Zinedine Zidane rejected a blank cheque to join Manchester United as manager, according to his old team-mate.

Former Chelsea centre-back Marcel Desailly also revealed that Zidane is NOT driven by cash – which is something the ex-Ballon d’Or winner proved this week.

Zidane has been approached by some of the biggest clubs in the world since quitting Real Madrid after failing to win a trophy in 2021.

The World Cup icon, 52, was heavily linked with a move to Man Utd before, during and after Erik ten Hag’s rollercoaster two years.

One of the reasons the French tactician supposedly turned Old Trafford chiefs down was because he didn’t feel confident speaking English.

A few years on, and ahead of the upcoming 32-team Club World Cup, Zizou was offered an eye-watering £84million to commit to a one-year contract at Saudi Pro League runners-up Al-Hilal.

And Desailly, who won the 1998 World Cup with Zidane, has explained how difficult it is for clubs to persuade him to join, and where he’s likely to go next.

Desailly, 56, said: “Will Zinedine Zidane be tempted by Saudi Arabia?

“Well, he had a blank cheque on the table from Chelsea and a blank cheque from Manchester United and turned them down.

“He isn’t in it for the money. I don’t see why money will change anything, I know privately that he won’t change his lifestyle.”

  • Say good-Bry?

United have been warned their move for Bryan Mbeumo could be hijacked by Tottenham.

Thomas Frank could be heading across London to become Tottenham’s new manager.

And that could see him try and sign Mbeumo, despite the Red Devils making an initial approach.

Ex-Spurs man Jamie O’Hara told Sky Sports: “Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa, Kevin Schade were absolutely fantastic for them this season.

“Look, can we hijack Manchester United’s move for Mbeumo if we get Frank? I’d love him at the club.”

  • On the Go?

Angel Gomes could be set for a reunion with former Manchester United team-mate Mason Greenwood.

Gomes’ contract at Lille expires this summer.

There has been interest from Tottenham and West Ham in the midfielder.

But RMC Sport state he is closing in on joining Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille, where fellow ex-Red Devils academy graduate Greenwood is.

  • Rash moves

Marcus Rashford has been spotted training on his own in the south of France as he prepares to reunite with Manchester United.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan from his boyhood club at Aston Villa.

But his future remains uncertain, with a “dream move” to Barcelona touted.

  • Return of the Mac

Scott McTominay left Old Trafford last summer for Napoli – and hasn’t looked back.

The Scot bagged Serie A’s Player of the Season award on the way to the Naples side securing a historic title.

McTominay’s Scotland teammate Andy Robertson believes the midfielder wasn’t given “respect” at United.

Robertson said: “I think he went over there with a point to prove.

“I think he wanted to prove Man United wrong and prove people in the Premier League wrong.

“He probably didn’t get the respect he deserves. Then he goes over there, puts in a magnificent season and fair play to him to end it with the league title.”

  • Lap of honour

Aymeric Laporte is reportedly a shock target for Man Utd.

The former City centre-back joined up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in 2023.

Reports in Spain suggest Laporte is desperate for a return to European football.

The 31-year-old defender would not come cheap, with the Saudi club keen to recoup the £23million they paid two years ago.
