Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur in a clash of under pressure teams as the struggling sides collide at Old Trafford in the late Premier League kick off.

Michael Carrick’s team have not won in the league since August and come into the game on the back of a third round exit in the Carabao Cup and a 1-1 draw against Fulham in which Matheus Cunha salvaged a draw late in the day. The Red Devils are 12th in the table and aiming to get their campaign back on track against a struggling Spurs.

Roberto de Zerbi’s team are bottom of the table with no wins and just two draws from their five league games so far. De Zerbi was brought in to save Spurs from relegation last season and after a summer of high spending his team are yet to properly gel. Last time out they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa but goals from Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke in the 86th and 98th minutes showed there is a bit of fight in them.

Roberto De Zerbi on Dejan Kulusevski’s recovery

Tottenham boss, Roberto de Zerbi, gave an update on the recovery of Dejan Kulusevski.

“He is working well, tomorrow he comes with us, also [Pedro] Porro. I want all players tonight and tomorrow,” he said.

“He is working very well, and I think he is an example for everyone, Deki [Kulusevski], because forget the player, but the example, how he reacts to the injury, how he reacts to being unlucky, the character he showed this time, was an example, a reference for everyone.”

Michael Carrick on United’s injuries

“It’s been a long time since we last sat here,” Man Utd boss Michael Carrick said to open his press conference on Friday.

“Yeah, it’s a little bit mixed really, through the internationals.

“Patrick [Dorgu] came off and it looks like he will be out for probably a number of weeks. Nous [Noussair Mazraoui] came off and took a knock. He’s not quite right yet, so we’ll see how he is.

“Where else are we at? Carlos [Baleba] is improving, he’s trained a lot and is improving. Amad [Diallo] has done a little bit of training, Marcus [Rashford] has done a little bit of training, Kobbie [Mainoo] has done a little bit of training. So it’s a little bit mixed really.

“Ben [Sesko] is further away, with the issue he has got. He won’t be ready.”

Manchester United vs Tottenham

Tottenham come into the match bottom of the Premier League table with the aim of ending their winless streak this season.

The two teams clash at Old Trafford eight months on from their previous enocunter in which United secured a 2-0 victory after goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes.

For the first time since the 2008-09 season, Tottenham sit rock bottom of the Premier League table after their first five matches, and they are also one of only three teams (along with Bournemouth and Fulham) still searching for their first top-flight win of the campaign.

With both teams and managers under pressure what kind of match will we see play out at Old Trafford later on?
