Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic will be sidelined for at least a week after sustaining a sprained finger and a lower left leg contusion during Friday’s win, the team announced.
The injuries forced him to exit the game early, and medical staff determined he will need time to recover before returning to play.
The Lakers are already shorthanded, as LeBron James remains out with sciatica.
The team has not provided a clear timetable for James’ return, and his absence continues to loom large over the struggling lineup.
Without their two star players, the Lakers face a challenging stretch ahead.
The team will visit the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, host the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, and then hit the road later in the week for games against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies.
The Lakers are expected to rely more heavily on their bench and younger players during this period, as they try to stay competitive in the Western Conference race while awaiting the return of their key stars.
