The Denver Nuggets are exploring the possibility of adding veteran point guard Lonzo Ball to their roster. With two open roster spots remaining after the trade deadline and enough room under the luxury tax to fill both, Denver has flexibility to make additions.

One of those openings is widely expected to be used to convert two-way player Spencer Jones to a standard deal, leaving the second spot available for a more experienced player.

Ball became available after clearing waivers over the weekend, following his release by the Utah Jazz.

Utah waived the veteran guard shortly after acquiring him from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a move designed primarily to clear salary. This transaction also included two second-round draft picks.

Denver isn’t the only team monitoring Ball’s availability, as the Golden State Warriors have also reportedly shown interest in signing him for the remainder of the season.

In limited action this year, Ball has averaged 4.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 20.8 minutes per game.

While his defensive instincts and playmaking remain strengths, he has struggled to find consistency as a scorer, shooting 30.1% overall from the field and 27.2% from three-point range.
