The Los Angeles Lakers have signed center Drew Timme to a two-way NBA contract, sources told Shams Charania. To make roster space for Timme, the Lakers waived Christian Koloko, moving quickly to add frontcourt depth ahead of tonight’s NBA Cup matchup against the Clippers.

Timme, 25, appeared in nine games for the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 28.2 minutes per game. Known for his scoring versatility and rebounding, he provides a scoring boost and inside presence for a Lakers team already led by Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves.

Since joining the Lakers’ South Bay G League affiliate, Timme has been dominant, posting 25.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game while shooting 51.5% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range over six games. His ability to score in isolation, off the pick-and-roll, and via catch-and-shoot opportunities has made him one of the most productive G League players this season.

The Lakers’ current rotation features multiple frontcourt options, including Deandre Ayton (currently sidelined with right knee contusion), Jarred Vanderbilt, and Jaxson Hayes, but Timme adds flexibility for both NBA Cup matchups and regular-season minutes. His scoring efficiency and rebounding make him a strategic addition for a team aiming to maintain its 12-4 start.

Tonight’s game against the Clippers will be Timme’s first potential opportunity to contribute at the NBA level this season. His two-way deal allows him to split time between the NBA and G League while giving Los Angeles an immediate scoring and rebounding option.
