The Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Detroit Pistons are exploring a potential three-team trade featuring Jonathan Kuminga and Malik Monk, according to a report by NBC Sports Bay Area.
Sources told NBC Sports California that the proposed deal would send Kuminga and veteran guard Dennis Schroder to Sacramento in separate sign-and-trade agreements. Discussions are ongoing, and the framework of the trade remains fluid.
Matt George of ABC10 Sacramento reported earlier that Detroit remains “very engaged” in talks, though he indicated the potential Monk trade may be separate from the Kuminga deal. George also noted that Sacramento has yet to finalize an offer to Golden State.
Kuminga, 22, is a restricted free agent after averaging 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds for the Warriors last season. The forward has attracted interest from several teams, including Miami, Chicago, New Orleans, and Sacramento. However, his reported $30 million annual asking price has made negotiations challenging for some suitors.
Sacramento, which finished 40–42 last season and fell short in the play-in tournament, appears to be evaluating multiple roster moves. While Monk signed a four-year, $78 million deal with the Kings last summer, his breakout year — with averages of 17.2 points and 5.1 assists — has reportedly increased his trade value.
The Pistons, who posted a 44–38 record and reached the playoffs before falling to New York, are reportedly interested in Monk as a scoring option alongside Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson. Detroit has also been involved in discussions about Kuminga but has not confirmed specifics.
The Warriors, coming off a 48–34 season and a second-round playoff exit, hold leverage as they evaluate offers for Kuminga. With limited competition able to meet his contract demands, Golden State could retain him if other teams fail to present an attractive package.
