New York Knicks wing Josh Hart still hasn’t been able to fully practice after dealing with back spasms in the first preseason matchup, but Zach Braziller of The New York Post reports in a separate update that he has progressed to doing on-court work.

Head coach Mike Brown expressed confidence that Hart will get comfortable with the new system once he’s cleared to return.

“He’s practiced a few times, played in one game. So you have a feel of what you’re going to get from Josh,” Brown said.

“But the tough part about it is because what we’re doing is new, and he hasn’t gone through it, he’s a little behind in that regard. But he’s got a great feel, has watched us enough, he should be able to jump in. He might be a few steps behind, but he should be able to catch up quickly with the guys.”

Brown acknowledges that Hart’s absence has set him back slightly in terms of learning the new schemes, but he believes Hart’s instincts and familiarity with the team will help him close that gap quickly.

Hart has played 8 seasons for 4 teams, including the Knicks and Pelicans. He has averaged 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 530 regular-season games.
