Kevin Love is backtracking after joking about the arrests of Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier, saying a conversation with Damian Lillard made him realize the situation was serious.
The Utah Jazz forward had posted an edited photo of Billups and Rozier’s faces on the viral “Coldplay couple” image with the caption, “NO (Draft) KINGS!!!” after news broke that the two were arrested in a federal gambling probe.
While some fans laughed, others didn’t – including Lillard, who commented, “Weak ass s***.”
Love later deleted the post, writing on his Instagram Story, “Spoke to Dame and he opened my eyes to this being a real-life situation for two of my former teammates and brothers. I took a particular post down because we all know they are going through it. As are their collective families.”
Billups was arrested for allegedly helping organize rigged poker games tied to New York crime families and giving insider info about the Trail Blazers to a bettor.
Rozier was charged with participating in an illegal sports betting ring, accused of faking an injury during a 2023 game so associates could profit. Former player and coach Damon Jones was also arrested in connection to the schemes.
