The final National Pitch & Putt Championships of the year saw two prizes come Kerry’s way in last Sunday’s Mixed Scotch Foursomes event in Collinstown, Co Westmeath. While defending champions Darren Goodall & Eileen McCarthy struggled in the defence of the title they won last week, Tralee pair Alan and Catriona O’Connor found themselves third overall last Sunday with a score of 92 points, one point off the winning total on the day.
The other Kerry prize won in the event was a Second Session prize on countback for Deerpark duo Connie O’Sullivan Jnr & Ciara Lowe on 87 points. Saturday’s Non-Mixed event at the same venue was not as successful for the Kerry pairs as the Deerpark duo of Eileen McCarthy & Ciara Lowe were best of the Kerry contingent on 87 points, 10 off the winning score of 97 points.
This weekend is the final Pitch & Putt Ireland overall for 2025 as the Inter-Provincial Challenge between Munster and Leinster takes place in Ryston, Newbridge, Co Kildare with plenty of Kerry interest in the Munster Mens and U16 sides. Deerpark’s James Fleming captains the Munster Mens side that feature his brother Damien and Tralee’s Jason Cregan while on the Munster U16 team Fionn McMonagle and Aodhan O’Halloran are also playing on Sunday. The Charity this year’s event is in aid of is Fighting Blindness.
The County Board wishes all the Kerry representatives on the Munster sides the very best of luck in Newbridge.
