Grizzlies guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is expected to pick up his $21.6MM player option for the 2026-27 season, according to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.
The option represents the final year of the three-year, $66MM contract negotiated by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.
The decision is largely expected, as Caldwell-Pope is opting for guaranteed money following an injury-shortened season.
The veteran wing underwent season-ending surgery in February to correct a misalignment in his right pinky finger.
Acquired from Orlando in the Desmond Bane trade last summer, Caldwell-Pope appeared in 51 games for Memphis this season, averaging 8.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per night, while shooting .410/.316/.913.
His salary for next season will rank second on the team behind Ja Morant.
Now 33, Caldwell-Pope has built his reputation as a reliable three-and-D contributor and has won two championships – with the Lakers in 2020 and the Nuggets in 2023.
However, his production has dipped over the past two seasons, particularly from three-point range, where his efficiency has declined compared to earlier in his career.
