Jack Kennedy completed a double for County Longford trainer Paul Flynn when partnering the 10/1 chance Pourquoi Poi to take the two and a half-mile handicap hurdle at Punchestown on Tuesday. The former champion jockey had the 10/1 chance in front before the final hurdle and the partnership raced away to score by four and three-parts of a length from Oliver McKiernan’s 40/1 shot Head For Home which was ridden by Phillip Enright. Eoin Staples had earlier partnered 17/2 chance The Truant to land the two-mile handicap hurdle for Flynn.
The Kennedy/Gordon Elliott team landed their first winner of the week as the 5/4 favourite King Of Kingsfield took the Grade 3 BetVictor Novice Chase at Punchestown on Wednesday. The Gigginstown House Stud-owned seven-year-old recorded his third win from five starts over fences when heading the Henry de Bromhead-trained front-running 9/4 chance Birdie Or Bust after the final fence to score by two and a half lengths.
Denis Hogan landed a 1-2 in the two and a half-mile rated novice hurdle at Thurles on Thursday with the four-year-old Tassarolo claiming the win for the in-form stable. Owned by the Full Of Hope Syndicate, the Gavin Brouder-ridden 5/1 chance headed his own stable companion, the Daniel King-ridden 7/2 shot Tatateo, close to the finish to score by a length.
Gavin Brouder and trainer Michael Winters combined to win the two-mile three-furlong handicap chase with the eight-year-old Crowsatedappletart at Limerick on Sunday. The Paul Mullins-owned 5/1chance led turning into the straight and he was well on top in beating Paul Nolan’s 17/2 chance Conyers Hill by three lengths, his seventh career success and his fourth at Limerick.

Gordon Elliott dominated at Far Hills on Saturday when saddling five winners from just six runners, the highlight of which was the late surge of the Jack Kennedy-ridden Zanahiyr to land the feature American Grand National. He came with a late surge and just got up in the Bective Stud colours to pip the Gavin Cromwell-trained Ballysax Hank. Elliott and Kennedy shared four winners in all, with Chortal, We’re Back Again and Emily Love all scoring, while Danny Gilligan partnered Coutach to an easy success in the Foxbrook Champion Hurdle Stakes.
