Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has decided to exercise his $8.4 million player option for the 2025–26 NBA season, locking him into another year with the team.
This move comes after Oubre re-signed with the Sixers last offseason on a two-year deal, which was made possible through the team’s use of the Room Exception – a cap exception that allows teams with cap space to sign players after using up that space.
Oubre had a productive year in Philadelphia, proving to be a valuable two-way contributor on the wing.
He appeared in 60 games, starting in 57 of them, and delivered consistent production, averaging 15.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Notably, he shot a career-best 47% from the field, reflecting his improved efficiency and shot selection.
By opting in, Oubre provides the Sixers with a reliable veteran presence and scoring punch, helping to solidify their forward rotation as they continue to build a competitive roster around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
His decision also gives Philadelphia clarity on their cap situation heading into free agency, as they look to make further roster upgrades this offseason.
