With no consistent rotation minutes available for first-round pick Kasparas Jakucionis, the Miami Heat opted to send the rookie guard to the G League for more meaningful playing time.
As Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald reports, Jakucionis has already logged two appearances with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, giving him a chance to get real in-game work that he isn’t currently able to find in Miami.
Rather than viewing the assignment as a setback, the 19-year-old is embracing it as a necessary step in his development.
“I just need live basketball, to be honest,” he said. “… I think it’s good to just be able to come here, play, and the development part is very good. So I think that’s a good thing.”
