New Orleans Pelicans guard Jordan Poole highlighted the stark difference between the fan atmospheres at the Smoothie King Center and Capital One Arena.
“I loved it. Oh my God, I loved it,” Poole said after the Pelicans’ home opener, via HoopsHype. “It feels so good to be in an environment where the fans are engaged, and you can feel the electricity in there.”
Poole described the home crowd as lively and positive, with chants and energy that reminded him of what a passionate fan base can provide. “Like, the last two years? Dead in there. It was dead in Capital One,” he added.
The Pelicans have struggled out of the gate this season, dropping their first two games. Zion Williamson led both losses, scoring 27 points in each, while Poole contributed 17 against Memphis and 21 in overtime against San Antonio.
New Orleans hosts the Boston Celtics on Monday before traveling to face the Denver Nuggets and L.A. Clippers later in the week.
