Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla credited his players’ consistency and effort after their 107-79 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.

“I think just the consistency in which [Jordan] has to play… that was very noticeable. His on-ball defense and offensive rebounds, he had five offensive rebounds. He takes pride in that role,” Mazzulla said of Jordan Walsh’s impact.

The coach highlighted Luka Garza’s high-effort plays. “Both ends of the floor… the next play is the most important play. He makes plays like that every single night… multiple effort tips that he gets for us.”

Mazzulla also praised Anfernee Simons for his early offensive spark. “That’s been his role. Another guy that could take pressure off the others and score seamlessly… whether it’s catch-and-shoot, off the dribble, or driving to the basket.”

Jaylen Brown’s leadership on the glass drew special attention. “He had nine rebounds in the first half alone… that’s how he impacts winning. Another way he leads is understanding what gives us the best chance to win every night,” Mazzulla said.

The Celtics adjusted after Milwaukee’s hot start. “A little bit more physical… good individual defense, forcing tough shots… the physicality of how we played affected that,” Mazzulla noted.

Mazzulla emphasized offensive rebounding as a key factor in maintaining possessions. “You have to capitalize on misses… it helps transition defense, helps keep them off the free throw line. That was big tonight.”

Regarding situational execution, Mazzulla explained, “Make a shot… get a good shot. That’s the message in early timeouts, just reinforcing what we need to do better.”

Mazzulla concluded by noting the Celtics’ overall effort and communication. “Studying transitions… finding ways to get extra possessions and keep it five-on-five… that puts you in position to have a good process throughout the season.”

Boston improved to 31-18 with the win, led by Brown’s 30 points and 13 rebounds, while Simons added 27 points off the bench. Milwaukee fell to 18-29 as Ryan Rollins scored 25 points in a losing effort.
