Jimmy Butler spoke candidly about his transition to the Golden State Warriors during a recent end-of-season press conference. When asked about adjusting from being the primary star in Miami to a different role in Golden State, Butler said, “I’m completely content with who I am as a basketball player, the way that I play the game, and to come here and know that I’m second to Steph—that’s, I think, a really good thing.”

Butler praised the team’s culture, emphasizing the unselfishness that allows “anybody to be playing any role on any given night.” He highlighted the young talent on the roster and the energized atmosphere, calling it “refreshing” to be part of such a group.

Looking back at his arrival, Butler admitted that media reports about his trade situation were confusing but expressed gratitude for how the Warriors welcomed him. “To know that Dray, Steph called me and talked to me about what was to happen in the future and then just being inside of this organization, see how great it is… I got my joy back, as Buddy would say,” he explained.

Butler described his first weeks with the Warriors as hectic, noting that he was “in aloe every single day” without a permanent home. However, he is optimistic about the upcoming offseason, saying, “Now you got a whole offseason. I get to be around my guys… We’re going to train together, build even more chemistry, and then take this thing into training camp and into this next year.”

When asked about working out with Stephen Curry and other teammates, Butler confirmed, “Yeah, of course.” He also shared that deepening his relationships with teammates off the court is a key offseason goal. “If I can show them that I am there for you outside of basketball… it makes a huge difference on the court,” he said.

Addressing his health, Butler said he was “fine” despite the typical wear and tear late in the season. On the team’s roster, he declined to speculate on changes, stating, “Whoever we have, we go out there and compete.”

Finally, Butler acknowledged the Warriors’ current championship window aligned with key players’ contracts. “Yeah. And then if we win some it could be longer than that ’cause I still think that we have a lot of great basketball left ahead of us,” he said.

The Warriors finished the 2024–25 season with a 48-34 record, securing a playoff berth but ultimately falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference semifinals.
