Jaylen Brown praised the Celtics’ defensive intensity after Boston routed the Milwaukee Bucks 107-79 on Sunday at TD Garden.
“Work first half… we rebounded in that second quarter, made some shots and just continue to play defense,” Brown said.
He emphasized controlling the boards as a key factor. “Just trying to stop us, rebound, not allowed to make extra possessions… we wanted to make sure they only got one shot,” he explained.
Brown highlighted rebounding as part of his leadership approach. “That’s an area for our team that teams try to attack… you just got to get in there, get in the fight, and give your team opportunity to win,” he said.
Reflecting on the NBA Pioneers Classic, Brown called the experience “awesome” and noted the importance of honoring the league’s history. “You got to know where you’re going, you got to know where you came from… the NBA did a good job of honoring some of those guys from the past,” he said.
He shared a personal moment meeting Emily Bryant, the first player to wear number seven in Boston. “That was pretty cool… being able to meet him and shake his hand… gives you information and wisdom as you move forward,” Brown said.
The Celtics star also reflected on his own legacy. “Legacy is something that stands out… the best legacy you can leave is winning… on top of winning, it’s also how you affected the community,” he said.
On the court, Brown led Boston with 30 points and 13 rebounds, securing his third double-double of the season. Anfernee Simons contributed 27 points off the bench, while Derrick White added 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
The Celtics built a 56-42 halftime lead and extended it with Brown scoring 10 of the first 12 points in the third quarter. Coach Joe Mazzulla pulled starters once Boston led by 27 midway through the final quarter.
Boston improves to 31-18, winning their second straight game, while Milwaukee falls to 18-29. Both teams will play Tuesday, with the Bucks hosting the Bulls and the Celtics traveling to Dallas.
