Grizzlies guard Ja Morant exited Saturday’s game in Cleveland midway through the first quarter because of soreness in his right calf, per Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

Morant had just returned after missing Wednesday’s game in Boston with an ankle injury, but he played only six minutes, posting seven points and two assists.

Vardon observed that he was “jogging gingerly” on Memphis’ final possession before heading to the bench.

Head coach Tuomas Iisalo said he isn’t sure which play caused the issue, according to Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com.

Morant is expected to undergo further testing, likely including an MRI, once the team returns to Memphis.

Vince Williams Jr. took over as lead guard after Morant left and briefly left the game himself after turning an ankle late in the first half, Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian reported, though he returned later.

The Grizzlies remain short-handed at point guard, with Ty Jerome still out due to a right calf strain and Scotty Pippen Jr. recovering from toe surgery.
