Wednesday’s matchup with the Warriors marks the Heat’s first on-court meeting this season with Jimmy Butler, months after Miami and Butler had an uneasy and highly publicized split last winter.
Still, as Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald reports, the Heat aren’t interested in framing the game around any lingering tension.
Head coach Erik Spoelstra noted that the reunion angle has already been covered, reminding reporters that Butler returned to Miami once before as a Warrior late last season.
“We already have done the game, so how many games do we have to play for it not to be the big storyline?” Spoelstra said.
Bam Adebayo, who says he’s “optimistic” about being available after missing six straight games with a sprained left big toe, agreed with Spoelstra’s stance.
“You move forward in life. We got a great team playing great basketball, and you want to continue that rather than try to chase a headline,” Adebayo said.
