NBA commissioner Adam Silver chose Brandon Ingram as the replacement for Stephen Curry in the All-Star Game, but San Antonio Spurs forward Harrison Barnes believes two of his teammates had stronger cases for the honor.
Barnes pointed to Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox as players who deserved more serious consideration, especially given the team’s position in the standings.
“We’re No. 2 in the West,” he told Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News. “Teams below us have two All-Stars. I don’t know a case where if you’re talking about having an impact on winning, either of them shouldn’t be selected and/or at least under consideration.”
Barnes’ argument centers on team success and overall influence on victories, suggesting that players contributing significantly to a top-seeded squad should be rewarded accordingly.
Meanwhile, Utah Jazz wing Blake Hinson finalized a two-way agreement that will span two seasons, according to Spotrac contributor Keith Smith.
The 26-year-old small forward has been putting together an impressive campaign in the G League, averaging 21.8 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Rip City Remix, Portland’s affiliate.
Hinson officially inked the new deal on Monday, rewarding his strong play at the developmental level.
