Gui Santos converted a go-ahead layup with 19 seconds remaining and Al Horford sealed the finish with a late steal as the Golden State Warriors escaped with a 114-113 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night at Chase Center. The result kept Golden State in eighth place in the Western Conference at 29-25 while Memphis dropped its third straight game.

Golden State played without Stephen Curry for a fourth consecutive contest because of a lingering right knee injury, forcing the offense to rely on depth and ball movement. Seven players scored in double figures, led by Pat Spencer’s 17 points and seven assists.

Santos, Brandin Podziemski and Horford each added 16 points, while Moses Moody scored 15 and Draymond Green finished with 14 points and four three-pointers.

The Warriors trailed for most of the fourth quarter and were down 113-103 before tightening their defense. De’Anthony Melton’s layup with 2:46 left started the push, and Moody followed with a score that cut the deficit to one possession.

Golden State closed on an 11-0 run after Jaylen Wells’ jumper with 4:17 remaining, turning stops into transition opportunities. Santos’ decisive basket capped a sequence built on offensive rebounds and quick reads against Memphis’ switching defense.

Horford’s steal after a missed Grizzlies shot prevented a final attempt, highlighting Golden State’s late-game defensive execution. The home team shot 53% from the field and recorded 31 assists, emphasizing ball movement despite 23 turnovers.

Memphis received strong production from its bench, which scored 68 points,. Jahmai Mashack led the second unit with 17 points, while Taylor Hendricks posted 15 points and 10 rebounds and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 15.

Ty Jerome paced the visitors with 19 points and seven assists, scoring 14 before halftime as the Grizzlies built a 65-57 lead at the break. Memphis shot 51% overall and won the rebounding battle 46-40 but struggled to generate quality looks during the closing stretch.

The loss dropped the Grizzlies to 20-32, keeping them outside the Western Conference play-in positions after losing nine of their last 11 games.

Memphis travels to Denver on Wednesday to finish a five-game trip before the All-Star break, while the Warriors remain at home to face San Antonio in another matchup with playoff implications.
