The Memphis Grizzlies have taken the next step in assembling Tuomas Iisalo’s coaching staff.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin has been interviewed for a role under Iisalo ahead of the 2025–26 season.
Griffin, 50, was dismissed by the Bucks on January 23, 2024, despite a 30–13 record that placed Milwaukee second in the Eastern Conference at the time.
He had only been named the franchise’s head coach the previous June, taking over a roster led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
Following Griffin’s dismissal, the Bucks stumbled to a 5–8 record leading into the All-Star break, prompting the organization to replace him with veteran coach Doc Rivers.
Now, Griffin may be in line for a return to the bench — this time in a supporting capacity with a rising Grizzlies team.
Memphis is coming off a season marked by volatility. Despite securing the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference and earning a playoff berth through the play-in tournament, the Grizzlies were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
Just weeks earlier, Memphis had fired Taylor Jenkins on March 28, despite a 44–29 record. The organization then moved quickly in May, naming Iisalo as its next head coach.
Griffin, a former NBA player and long-time assistant, spent time on the staffs of the Bulls, Magic, Thunder, and Raptors before landing his first head coaching job with Milwaukee.
