Gilbert Arenas is setting the record straight after rumors suggested he may have tipped off authorities about Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier before their arrests in the NBA’s gambling scandal.
The former All-Star insists he had nothing to do with their cases, saying their situation is “a whole different level.”
Arenas had jokingly posted on Instagram with an “informant lunch,” poking fun at the scandal, but the joke sparked confusion online. During a Sunday livestream, he addressed the backlash directly.
“C’mon man, why y’all puttin’ me in something like this?” the ex-player said. “This is a whole different level.”
The 43-year-old clarified that when he joked about “snitching,” he was referring to his own case – not theirs.
Arenas was arrested in July for allegedly running an illegal underground gambling operation, but he emphasized that the two matters are unrelated.
“I don’t know what this gotta do with my case. My case is different,” he said.
Laughing off the speculation, Arenas ended his livestream by trolling once again, saying, “Mine didn’t have no operation name. There’s no operation.”
Despite his playful tone, Arenas made it clear he wasn’t involved in the NBA’s gambling probe and that his jokes were simply that – jokes.
